Wii fun

Today, after the baseball game (Little Chamberlain held on to dear life), my dad didn’t want to fall victim to jet lag so he asked me to show him the Wii Fit I was telling him about. So I did…and I was doing the hula hoop, the step dance, the ski jump…and I finally insisted that he create his own profile.

So he did. His wii fit age is 67. He’s 56. I would say that he’s pretty energetic too though, he climbs and hikes as well as me (well…I’m not very fit). Anyhow, I think the wii fit age always make it older. I mean…the way they test it is by balance and agility + balance…stuff we’re not used to focusing on. One problem I’ve seen is the measuring of weight. They always make me lighter than I really am. (no, I’m not really 105lbs) I think it’s because I don’t relax enough when they measure, losing some of the pressure on the board.

He was really tired with the hula hooping. He really liked the ski jump and did it over and over to improve his jump. Then he did the shalom run, which I think is too hard and sensitive, and then he did the soccer head punting. Am I the only one who thinks that game is hard? My dad did it about 3 times, progressively better. Those shoes really make it difficult.

All together, I think he exercised 16 minutes. And he had fun doing it. So that is a plus. I would love it if my grandma played wii fit. I like watching old people try out newfangled things. I love it even more when they love it and use it.

I will take pictures next time he plays. Yaaay. Now…if only I could get him to play guitar while I drum…and my mom can sing…well…I can dream.

The new wiiware is out, and I had watched the import video on the wiiware when it was only out in Japan, so I was really interesting in My Life as King and the Pokemon Ranch. So today, I was just about to put money into my account, to download Pokemon Ranch like a good pokemon girl should, when I thought…”hm…maybe I should check out the reviews one more time”. And I did…for both King and Ranch. Apparently, My Life as King is missing a lot of content, and Pokemon Ranch is just…and ranch. I barely have time to complete Pokemon Pearl as it is (I should totally probably do that this summer) so I don’t think I have time to stare at Pikachu on my tv.

The World Ends With You

I’ve tried playing this game for about 3-4 hours now, and I was drawn to it because the art is similar to Kingdom Hearts, and it’s novel for the DS, but it was kind of hard to play for me. There are these pins that let you attack in different styles, but you also control a girl on the top screen using the +pad. So while you are using the stylus on your right hand (if you’re a righty), you are pressing directional buttons with your left hand. And while that could be simple enough, it’s a little hard to keep both of them alive. They both share the same health bar so if one of them is in bad shape, it ends up affecting the main character. Typical to leave the girl more vulnerable as well.

The story is interesting and captivated me for about 3-4 hours before I got frustrated with the play style. You can change your level to be higher, but you get less drops (chances for more pins and money). I think I’d rather run around slashing mobs to death.

So, if you are highly coordinated and don’t mind characters affecting your ability to live or dragging you down (which the character in the story actually detests as well), then this game is for you! At least the music is good.
