I’ve been wanting to see this movie and I was finally able to borrow it from the uncle of one of my students.

My advice for this movie is: suspend reality. There are some weird footages, lenthy unnecessary scenes, and stuff that doesn’t make sense. Like…..yeah that guy is going to fight against 20 other people, except only 2 of those 20 are actually fighting and the rest are just “pretending” aka running around or looking shocked or waiting for their turn. But what Chinese film, or martial arts film for that matter, would be complete without that?

All I know is, Takeshi Kaneshiro is hot. (He’s the guy on the left…) His character is super smart and knows everything. And I mean everything. Even how to pull a pony out of a horse. You’ll know what I mean when you watch it. If you watch it.

I highly suspect his hot voice was dubbed over by a guy who can speak better Mandarin. How dare they! I like his accented weird Mandarin! Put it back!

Did I mention he was hot?

I was browsing through youtube, one of the ways I keep of with Taiwanese news and my favorite artists, and I came across one of many of these “plastic surgery” videos. They’re the videos that try to expose the plastic surgery that celebrities might have had, posting past photos and recent. I tend not to believe even the recent photos, because a lot of the photos that get out in print are touched up anyway, so it doesn’t really reflect that they look like in real life. Anyhow, this was the one of the biggest differences.

@_@ Elva?? What is with the hair? Poor girl. And it looks like she got double eye lid surgery…her and everyone else. Not a huge deal.

And then there was this one:

….that past picture doesn’t even look bad. What is the difference I’m supposed to see here? I still see two incredibly good looking guys ?!?! @_@.

I was in Rowland Heights the other day, for my painful facial that I am currently still suffering from (red splotches all over my face), and I saw this poster:

I know that there are always asian singers at Las Vegas during Christmas (because it’s cheap?) and in the past, Jay Chou…S.H.E., and Jolin have been there….and this year??? Wang Leehom! ah….I’ve never been to singing concert before….and…this is a little corny….but…it’s Wang Leehom! His picture on this poster is a little…..err…

I doubt I can go….<: ( I have a friend who use to be a backup dancer for asian singers…I wonder if she’s going..hm…she just had a kid though, I wonder if she’s not doing it anymore then.

It looks like he just ran two miles through the rain to catch up to me, he forcefully spins me around…puts his hands on my shoulders…panting……he looks deep into my eyes….and he says…

The Warlords

So, awhile ago, I came upon this Chinese movie, raved about it for about 10 minutes and completely forgot about it until today when I happening upon it again. It’s called The Warlords. The best part about it?

It has Takeshi Kaneshiro in it. I will watch anything with Takeshi Kaneshiro in it. Takeshi Kaneshiro is…..hot. To remind you what Takeshi Kaneshiro looks like…

How many times can I say Takeshi Kaneshiro? Anyhow, the other guys in this movie are Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, otherwise known as, the original The Departed) and Jet Li (Romeo Must Die). Didn’t Jet Li say he was going to stop making martial arts films? And he recently came out with that movie with the guy from The Transporter….To be fair, it doesn’t look like he’s doing much kung-fu or shaolin action, so perhaps this is where he stands now.

Here is the 3rd trailer with English subtitles. It gives more info than the previous ones I saw…but I still have no idea what the heck is going on, besides a lot of dramatized screaming and yelling. It looks like the brotherhood breaks apart somewhere along the way.

Koukou Debut!

I found this manga that has swept me off my feet. Every once in a while I pick up one of these shojo mangas and my heart beats crazy over them until I finish it or forget about it. This one is pretty ordinary, but since I don’t get stuff like this all the time, it’s very good to me anyway.

Girl is athletic and in softball team in middle school, reads lots of shojo manga and decides she wants a boyfriend in high school. She’s clueless though, and decides she needs a coach, and sets her eye on one of the hottest guys in school. Eventually he gives in since she is different from many girls and decides to help her, on one condition: that she won’t fall in love with him. The guy is tired of girls confessing to him and considers it an annoyance.

He is really straight-forward, doesn’t like high emotions, but really caring in the inside (aren’t all shojo manga guys like this -__-” ). As a coach, he worried about her a lot…awww

Obviously, somewhere along the way, she ends up falling in love with him even though she tries very hard (although she really didn’t think of him that way in the beginning). Skip ahead, here is an excerpt.

……….ugh. My heart aches when I read stuff like this…..in a good way, but why does it hurt? At any rate, this part makes him look a little…..dorky. It’s when he’s acting cool that I like him, although this stuff is nice > <.
