Feminist Mama

A wow friend sent this to me and I found it funny.

I actually do enjoy Cooking Mama. Her bad accent doesn’t annoy me and I like using the wii to “cook” the food. Did I ever think that this was demeaning to the female gender…not really.

I think less people, men and women, would pick up this game if it were called “Cooking Papa” and a guy was cooking it. It’s the same reason why there are more male players who pick female avatars in WoW than female players who pick male avatars in WoW. Cooking Mama just might be more universal than Cooking Papa. If you really want to get down to it, it could be called “Cooking Parents!” and you could either choose the mama or the papa to cook with.

As for Doctor Mama, we have the Trauma Center series which I have and have played. I just can’t finish the last “boss”. I like sewing up people and extracting tumors. It’s the weird worm virus stuff that is hard. Educated Mama would be like Brain Age? And Executive Mama? What is that…sit in a chair and order people around? Do we really need girl versions of these doctor and and academic games? mmm. Given that “Mama”‘ has a strong accent, I’m not sure I would chose her to be a role model anyway <: P.

Uh oh! Not goooOd. Try a leeettle hada!

Disney Fairies Fun

2

I have discovered something wonderful to play with! It doesn’t last very long, but I was browsing through Disney auditions and I found one interesting one that I had never seen before. Apparently, the Disney Fairies concept is doing well with young girls and they are planning on casting for face characters. There is a fairy for every major race aaaaaaand there is an asian one. Her name is Silvermist.

I’m just glad she’s not super asian. She actually kind of looks like Kelly Hu right? Anyway, I don’t think I’ll have time to audition for this…and I might not be in the country anyway. I will have to keep my eye out for these fairies when I go to Disneyland next.

Anyway, through this, I discovered the awesomeness that is their fairy creator site! I highly recommend taking 15 minutes out of your day to do something cute and silly and create a fairy. Who cares if the fairy is a female and you happen to be a guy. Connect with your feminine side!

I swear I looked like this when I was younger. But with a longer face.

You can decorate your room. Notice the pan flute on the wall and the curtain on the right hiding my stuff. I love hanging dividers, you have no idea! They have a name generator and I clicked random a couple times and then scrolled through names around it. I’m very pleased with Echo. It’s actually a very pretty name! I’m going to have to remember this. But isn’t the mythology of Echo kind of sad? Oh well. haha. I hope they still have this name generator when I have a kid…so using it for ideas!

To see my complete homepage, here is the link. It’s like myspace for virtual fairies!. Apparently they are going to make it an MMO!

Pokemon is a real word folks

I was typing up an essay-like statement of purpose and I typed the word “pokemon” (don’t ask why) and then I backspaced to change the e to an e with an accent over it, finished the word, pressed space…and……poof. Word automatically changed the word to start with a capital.

Yes, it’s true. A capital. Wow. We don’t capitalize the word “animals” but we do capitalize Pokemon. And this word is also misspelled without the accent, I’ll have you know.

Important discovery tonight.

Yes, indeed.

My cover on Coldplay’s Viva la Vida

I thought about this during the week when I had this on repeat over and over…

Would it be cool if I played the piano and the cello together? And listening to it, you can pretty easily pick out the notes. Then I set off to youtube to see if there were any parts…but I decided that I could probably do it myself. I arranged the piano part first, and the cello part is almost the same stuff over and over again, with some differences in some parts. The piano part is actually a lot of the violin parts. Sorry violins! (not).

So this is what I had to do:

1. Record parts of piano using digital camera. (Part because it’s hard to do the whole thing without mistakes)

2. Record parts in cello digital camera. (Parts because the notes will be more uniform looped)

3. Take the audio off the movie clips and paste the piano parts all together. Paste the cello parts together.

4. Make sure the beats all align.

5. Sing the song with the arranged version and record.

6. Rip the audio off the video and paste it in. Makes sure all beats align.

7. Record video of me playing the piano while listening to the arranged version so the movements are the same. Same with cello. Same with voice.

8. Take all the clips, align the sounds with my arranged version, delete the audio.

So in total, this project allowed me to learn more about Adobe Audition, Adobe Soundbooth, and Sony Vegas.

Originally I had a lot more ideas for the video. I was going to have my stuffed Stitch beat out the drum…and other randomness…but near the end of this, I was already sick of working on it that I was ready to just spit it out.
