My elegant+nerdy wedding

2

It’s been a year since my marriage and I’m finally posting up pictures.

I wanted a classy wedding with nerdy undertones since we met playing World of Warcraft. It was still conventional: I wore a white dress, I had the appropriate wedding party, and the reception consisted of eating and dancing.

Here were the more interesting parts:

  • Our recessional music was to the Theme of Star Wars, adapted for cello and violin by me.
  • Our drink was called “Elixir of Cherry Blossoms” (my wedding flower)

Our wedding program contained a "buff" in the corner

Guests were seated to their tables named after locations in the mmorpg World of Warcraft. Seating arrangement was attached to a wreath of cranes. We made 1,000 cranes for the wedding.

This is was 1000 cranes looks like. We made them over the course of 5 months.

Each table had a description of the location and the story behind it.

Descriptions for some of the tables. We had 11 tables.

We had R2-D2 run around the dance floor.

  • The wedding party walked in to the opening music in the WoW login screen, and I walked in with my husband to “Live to Win”
  • We danced to “Earth Angel” from Back to the Future and the dance scene from Pulp Fiction. The video also sliced in Robot Chicken.

  • My sister-in-law made World of Warcraft papercrafts that were spread out at the headtable.

The grooms cake was designed as a murloc wearing a top hat. You should have seen the look on the baker's face when we tried to explain to him what we wanted.

The cake came out really nice. We were very happy at the detailed results.

Sims Apartments Part II Complex: Asian house

I’m always fascinated by making the sliding door, separated rooms, lofts. This one was really hard to get two people to live in this space.

The first floor has a small bedroom in the middle. Bathroom is on the bottom floor.

The second floor is interesting. There is another bedroom in the middle with open space on both sides of the room. Imagine living in a room where your two sides are open to the first floor. Open up a window, “hello down there! Can you bring up a coffee?” Maybe even install a pulley system with a basket to transfer food and other items (I had a friend in middle school who did actually do that with her parents. Her parents amused her. How nice!) The second floor also contains the tv. The interesting part is that the second floor bedroom and the second floor itself have their own set of stairs. The bedroom stairs led up to another private room on the third floor that has its own private balcony. The stairs on the second floor lead to a balcony that guests can enter and use. Pretty nifty! I’d love to have my own private space. So exclusive!

In the pictures, the balcony on the left is private (for painting and meditating), the one on the right is public. There is a bookcase and a lounge chair!

For sure, the person that gets the second floor bedroom should pay more rent.

The decor is really asian. Bamboo, sliding floors, paper lanterns, and asian art on the walls.

Sims Apartments Part II Complex: Doll House

This is one of my favorte houses in the complex I made: This is a clean girly doll house. Ribbons, pink and offwhite. I love the second floor; there is a big grand piano and it’s open to the first floor with the ledge near the window. I really love lofts. The third floor is just the bedroom, with two balconies: a big one for exercising (treadmill), or stretching, and a little balcony to sit and read Stephen King books at. Perfect. My inner girl squeals with delight.

Sims Apartments Part II! The Complex

I’ve built a new apartment complex. It’s actually more like an attached home complex. I spent about 5 days building it all. Furnishing is the time consuming part. It was like building 8 homes actually. Every home is different in model and plan. The garden was super fun to design.

Here is an overview of the complex!

The homes face out onto the street. The door to get in from the garden side of the complex. Everyone’s gate and column is different and matches the decor theme of the home. The garden is a maze! Detailed pictures of the garden coming up soon.

The lobby is pretty nice and has lots of amenities available. The huge aquarium on the bottom floor is nice and new. Up top there is a suana, pool table, games, and a gym. Also a barre, my favorite.
