New Zunes

So….new zunes….
Apparently you can’t find the 80gs anywhere because they are 6 weeks behind production schedule…which sounds really stupid. Maybe they gave away too many to the fan sites and stuff.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one, because the idea of having your entire collection of music in one playable and portable place is so nice….but…..I know I won’t really use it. Why?
I get annoyed when I see people with headphones in their ear all the time. Is it really necessary to be listening to music 24/7? Do you really have to listen to music while you walk from point A to point B? Really? Really? I have about 3 albums worth of songs on my cellphone and I don’t even listen to those tracks. I only use those mp3s are ringtones. And maybe it’s because I drive enough to get my music fix that I don’t need to listen to music any more than that.
While it’s something nice to have because I love gadgets and I love my technology and I love the idea of it…
It’s not very practical for me <: (…like most gadgets, except this one is expensive (I’m talking the 80gig).
Ukulele!

I’ve wanted one before but I wasn’t serious about it until I saw this being sold really cheap. So I though…why not? The chords are relatively easy to remember and since my music theory is pretty good, I’ve figure out how the chords work and why the chords look like the way they do (in the tab form).
It dawned on me that tabs are just the easy solution to play music, and for people that don’t want to learn it the “real” way. When I play chords on the piano or cello, each note is written out and having memorized all the notes, I can play them all together. Tabs are circles! Circles on lines for you to follow, you don’t learn how or why, you just memorize them with its chord name. Sorry if I’ve offended you.
Anyhow, it is hard right now learning all the chords and stuff…but so far I’ve gotten down G, D, C, A7…and sometimes I forget E, F#, and B. Mainly because the songs I learned used those chords. The best song I can sing is Kumbaya right now…though I tried some Christmas songs that were pretty easy.
Anyhow, I was introduced to this guy, Jake Shimabukuro who plays the Ukulele like crazy…..
Here he is playing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” by George Harrison. When he plays the part that goes “I don’t know whyyyyyyy, nobody told you…” I want to fall over. I can fall for any guy that plays like this. How long, though, I can’t be for sure.
m-flo loves Namie Amuro

ah…. m-flo
Probably the best hip-hop in Japanese music. I think I was introduced to them with m-flo loves melody’s “Miss You”. Anyhow, they have a lot of “featured” artists and instead of using “feat.”, they use “loves”, which is nice because they feature a lot of artists. In particular, I’m stuck on this song recently and I’d like to share it! It starts out pretty normal…and then the chorus part sounds a lot like some kind of traditional Taiko rhythm which sounds genius to me. It’s stuff like this in music that really gets to me.

This is from the m-flo tour where Namie popped out to sing with them. She’s amazing..well…not really….but she’s timeless…I love her too.
So, here it is, m-flo loves Namie Amuro- Luvotomy. If you are smart, you may be able to snatch this song from me.

Rome

I watched the HBO series, Rome, last year. My dad had the good taste to buy the whole series on DVD. At first I was reluctant to get into it, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. This is probably the most excited I can get about politics…the betrayal, greed…deception. It’s great. When it comes to time period dramas, there is a big chance that it just comes out being corny because of the set and art design, but I don’t get that feeling at all watching this. This series is pretty perfect to me.

I think the hardest part watching this is knowing that Caesar will die. We all know he does. But watching the events that lead up to it…getting to see his relationship with Brutus…getting inside Caesar’s head…it really got to me. I cried when he was stabbed…the scene is haunting.
My favorite character, by far, is Titus Pullo of the 13th Legion. He is the most manly, loyal, kind, brute I’ve ever seen. Wearing his kit (that’s what they call their armor) is an extra bonus too > <.

To his left is his unlikely, but best friend, Lucius Vorenus, a higher rank than him. Their story is the best side story of the series which always intertwines with the main plot. They are the real heroes. Pullo is totally a lovable character.
So season 2 came out like….this January, or February, and to me, I felt like the story had ended with Caesar dying and I was much too emotionally tired to watch the second season. But, here I am, watching the second season and it’s great. I have two more episodes left.
Watch it!
