I see no reason why you can’t go to the ball… if you get all your work done…

I was at the mall a couple days ago and I saw the little promotion Apple is having. Buy a computer and get an ipod free! (Rebate of $299). Apple is unique that they can do things like this easily. It is enticing, isn’t it?
So I thought to myself…hmm….what would it be like if I actually got a little apple notebook…
and suddenly, it dawned on me
I would be the evil stepmother of the Mac.
Do your work and I’ll hide you under my bed when you’re done. And I’ll focus on all your faults. And never give you credit. And don’t forget the garden. Then scrub the terrace, sweep the halls and the stairs, clean the chimney. And of course there’s the mending and the sewing and the laundry… Oh yes and one more thing, see that Lucifer gets his bath.
Well…at least I recognize that Cinderella is really pretty. Heh.
My little Mac-ella.
Anyhow, I’m not in a real need for a new lappy. My ultra-light (ultra-light by standards 4 years ago) Fujitsu is working fine, just that the reformat cds that came with it aren’t working. If I gave it a fresh reformat it would work better. Honestly I don’t have to travel that much and use a notebook. So I’m okay for another year. Next year…I should be looking at a new notebook with a bit more brains though. 512mb of memory doesn’t cut it!
P.S. The title of this post is from the movie, Cinderella. It was made in 1950. 1950!? I can’t believe such an old movie still gets played so much and shown to kids every generation.
Ringtone editing
I’m a huge fan of editing my cellphone. Mainly because the Sony Ericssons are so customizable with their theme creator program. You may remember my old post about it and the theme I made. Transparent gradients woooo.
I only put a few ringtones on it. One for my mom, one for my dad, one for me (for my parents to use on their phone for me) and then Utada’s Stay Gold as the regular ringtone. It never occurred to me to use more or make more. So I did today. And I’m going to share them.
They are all 30 seconds long. AT&T restricted it somehow that the only mp3s that can be set as ringtones have to be 30 seconds long and under 600mb (I think…anyhow 30 seconds is generally under 600mb).
Daft Punk- Aerodynamic (the middle part near the end that is pretty orgasmic and borderline electrical parade)
Debussy- Clair de Lune (I’ve seen it both “Clair” and “Claire”)
Happy Feet- Kiss and Heartbreak Hotel (the part where Hugh Jackman sings and a bit of Nicole Kidman)
The Last Emperor- Movie Theme 1 (I live for this piece of music)
The Last Emperor- Movie Theme 2 (1 has the intro, 2 has more of the theme)
Phantom Planet- California (total summer song…driving on the PCH, windows and sunroof down)
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Gong Li (I like the guitar intro)
Sex and the City- TV theme (for the girls!)
Sex and the City- Movie theme (more symphony and bang…edited it down to get it all in 30 sec)
Usher- In This Club 1 (more intro)
Usher- In This Club 2 (more voice)
Utada- Prisoner of Love
(Quiet version)
Wonder Girls- So Hot (so…catchy -__-”)
Laputa- Carrying You (sung by the choir…love love this song)
Why do I need so many ringtones on my phone? I don’t know…they are all the best parts of the songs/pieces anyway right? Who needs to other 3-4 minutes of the music…
The Happening

I just got back from watching The Happening…by the in/famous M. Night Shyamalan (yes I had to check to spell his name).
He is going to run out of vague movie names. Seriously. The title didn’t have much to do with the movie. What else will there be? “The Incident” “The State of Being” “No Title” “Movie About Weird Things” “I Like to State the Obvious”
Movies are supposed to be underlined right? Oh well. Pretend they are.
This movie was interesting and I’m still glad I watched it because it was fun. It’s fun to laugh when there are corny lines. It’s fun to watch Mark Walhberg try to be Mr. Science Teacher nice guy. That was weird. Really weird to watch. It felt like it was really hard for him to be…normal…like he felt more comfortable if he could just beat everyone up instead of being leader and trying to save people.
The end result: I will still go watch whatever Mr. Shyamalan throws at me. This movie will make you afraid of the wind. That’s the spoiler I will give. It’s a lot more fun to watch it than read the spoiler. This is pretty big coming from someone who likes to read movie spoilers. Speaking of which, I have some I need to read. (The Strangers, I’m looking at you).
Manga: Bokura ga Ita

I’ve been reading a lot of manga lately, because I have time to and I’m sadistic. Why is this sadistic…because girly manga is so heartwrenching. I can feel my heart tear sometimes when I read these. Boy mangas are so easy to read. Fighting, comical scenes…they pass by…in through the eyes, to the brain…and that is it. Girly manga? Noo…..in through the eyes, to the brain, to the heart, to the eyes…and out as tears.
Anyway, I didn’t cry reading/watching this manga/anime. But I have cried before…I just can’t remember what it was. Oh I remember…Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicles. Just the first few chapters…but that is for another post.
This manga is about a boy and a girl. You find out that the boy’s old girlfriend died in a car accident and his relationship with her, and her dead, had a big impact on him. The boy and the girl start a relationship and she has to cope with his problems and her insecurities. There are long panels of thoughts…the kind that make you want to either pull your hair out or skim through. The art is amazing though, and that’s what led me to be interested in this manga in the first place. I saw the Chinese version of it at the bookstore and fell in love with the art.
You can also watch the anime on Youtube and Crunchyroll. The ladder has more episodes and they are full length. Her voice does take getting used to…..if you don’t like the stuffed-nose cutesy Japanese girly-but-depressed voice -__-”. The funnier episodes are the ones when they are …er….trying to…..do it…
What was that?? You want to know which episode that’s on?…..mmm….episode 9.
