Generation O!

Here is a post about an underrated cartoon on the WB that ran for maybe half a season or something. Does anyone remember the cartoon Generation O!? It’s about a girl who sing in a band and she has an annoying brother and if I remember correctly, she had a really cool publicist or bodyguard…something. It’s blurry in my mind, but the part I liked about it was the weird and random music that she sang. She would sing stuff about getting pierced ears, or how embarrassed she was for wetting her bed. The singer that sang for her is actually the lead singer for the band, Letters to Cleo. You might remember them from some songs in the soundtrack for 10 Things I Hate About You.

Anyhow, I liked her songs because she sang them with so much vigor, and the singer’s voice is really unique…it’s totally like a kid, but better and not so sweet. Here is an example.

Check out the short lyrics for this song, All Right:

Don’t want to be all sensitive
But I know more the more I live
Sometimes I don’t know where I stand
It takes an eagle eye and a steady hand
When even a stupid telephone commercial
Can give me a tear
What does that mean?
I have no idea

Alright Alright
It’s alright
The barks always worse than the bite
And there’s no need to be all uptight
When everythings gonna be, gonna be alright

I especially like the part where she cries for a telephone commercial, and then she’s like “What does that mean?!?! I have no idea”. So candid.

And yes, I know the cartoon sucked overall, but I miss hearing her little songs. Unfortunately, at the time, I was only able to download this one song and on the official site, the songs are all in real player format and I’m not motivated enough to convert them.
